Have you driven for DSV Services based in Illinois? They use only 1099 drivers. Victoria called me and she provided an address for a drug screen. The calls are coming from area code 224 and 708 In Illinois. There is a DSV website for an international logistics company. Don't see any connections on the website about driving careers.
I've haven't been over the road in 20 years but need a job. I see some red flags here like this isn't the right fit for me. Is a 1099 driving job for people with lots of experience on the road? Haven't driven a truck since 1998. Just got terminated for a preventable accident while operating a transit bus. I'm nearing my retirement age but I'm not ready to quick working yet. Lastly I have a United States passport. Victoria assures me that crossing to and from the United States to Canada and return is not difficult as long as I don't bring produce across the border, (in the cab). And DSV Services will provide all the necessary paperwork to cross in and out of the United States.

1099 companies are great as long as they pay about 80 cents a mile to make up for all the extra taxes and SS you gotta pay. In other words no way in Hell.

One no vote. Tomorrow is the drug screen. But holding off on any commitment to this job until I hear more.

Caitmatt... did you take the job?
-
Did not take the job......yet. I've got to pay my dues to get back into trucks. Just submitted application to Virtual Xpress of Helena, Montana. Just need to connect with someone who is honest, and will provide an opportunity for me to get my skills up to speed, and will pay me on pay day. Don't want a fortune. $40K to $50K dollars for the first twelve months would be respectable.

Could still check out Watkins Shepard. Just be very specific about what you want to do and get an email or something saying exactly what you are being hired for. They did a good job on training. Missoula to Helena and back over the big hill. No guarantee it still operates that way since they got bought by Schneider.
They have a terminal next to the airport in Helena. Opposite side of airport from the passenger terminal. And a terminal in Missoula. A little down the road from the smoke jumpers.
