I dropped it in the shopping center parking lot where I was parking for the night and bobtailed to the one fuel station with a diesel pump.

I hear you there. It's not truck friendly when comes to the resort areas.

LOL. No, but everyone thinks I'm a real "trucker" when they see that.

Lawd Ah Mercy! You mean the sky wasn't falling, it was just a section of the plaster ceiling?:D

I had to turn down a team flatbed load last week. It paid $25K from OKC to Prudhoe Bay. I'm glad my brother and I didn't take it. Neither of our trucks are up to the challenge, unless you want -40°F wind blowing through your door and no CB.

I looked for any backhaul loads for a flatbed anywhere in AK. Nothing. Turns out $25K is too cheap.

Everything else being equal, would ya do it for the same rate in June or July?

    JustinTrucker Thanks this.

The per mile rate looks pretty good until you realize you're driving all the way back to Seattle empty and you're gonna blow 5 grand in fuel and waste a whole month. I mean, it's not a bad month but a lot could go wrong to make it a bad month.

Southbound loads out of Alaska have always been a challenge-I always figured if I could find something that would at least cover fuel it was a real score. When I shut down my construction company in 2010 I took a couple of stepdeck loads with me to SE Montana-the rate I paid was less than the cost of doing it myself

@Brandonpdx And then what are you going to book from the Seattle market? Well it isn't exactly renowned as a panacea of great rates. I don't run there but generally hear from guys who do it ranks maybe a little better than Florida for outbound rates but not much better.

Can get strikers out of Washington. Tractors and equipment or of the tacoma port. Neither paid like they used to, but they aren't terribly bad either.
