Like I said most people who knew about this are not upright anymore. And of course just a pile of salt won't make any difference. It's not for reception. It's for grounding when you either have poor or no ground. You could put an upright in sea water as long as the tide didn't fluctuate to much and use it as radials. The tides would change the swrs. That friend was my dad. He was in the navy back before most people had running water in rural areas. In 41/42. Also road salt has other ingredients.

I heard a driver mention something of the sort about using a kitty litter box underneath his bunk full of salt water but what he was telling me didn't make any sense at the time.

look did the navy ship yard thing a while ago, know that salt water ground effects don't work in Mobile applications, ships yes and stationary antenna installs where ground is really bad but not trucks. Sorry but it is a fallacy.Bout Z and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
Ok. I have used it and know others that use it. Our results were a lot better than yours. Sorry. I have had good luck with it.
