I can't even imagine trying to run a team up that way. The logbook stuff is complicated enough with a solo driver. I'm sure some do it but running up that way in the middle of the night with the other driver bouncing around in the back just seems ludicrous. I'm dropping the anchor at night and waiting for daylight especially if it was a first time thing.

Not many hours of Daylight this time of year.
cnsper, not4hire and spyder7723 Thank this. -
not4hire pretty much summed it up. If you are lucky you find a rest area that has a garbage can and full service means an outhouse. You better learn to hover and be quick about your business since most of them have no window panes and are very well ventilated. On a positive note you don't have to worry about bears this time of year.

It will take a month for the round trip if you are waiting for daylight. Tok, AK sunrise 10:01am and sun set 2:49pm. The weather is clear and -27 tonight.NavigatorWife, lester, Wymon and 5 others Thank this.

I get skittish at 20 above anymore. Don't like 0 and have never enjoyed the negative temps. That is too cold for me. Not enough meat in that pie to get me up there. I leave that to all you younger drivers.
Should have asked . is that temp the low or the high. hahaha
Good luck.russellkanning, NavigatorWife and JustinTrucker Thank this. -
You DO realize the speed limit for sections over the ocean are 5 mph... right?NavigatorWife and JustinTrucker Thank this.

Especially up there. I lived in south central Alaska and our shortest day was about 5-1/2 hours of daylight. Sunrise around 10, set just after 3.NavigatorWife, JustinTrucker and Lepton1 Thank this.

I remember visiting friends in Healy and Cantwell, Alaska during the winter to go ride snowmachines and it'd be -40... for a high! I had it made living on the Turnagain Arm compared to them. Needless to say we usually didn't venture out anywhere except to the Totem to warm up with some bourbon.NavigatorWife and JustinTrucker Thank this.

Ah yes, the eternal, internal, debate... "do I really have to go, or can I hold it?"

Risk frostbite in the winter or the mosquito horde in the summer... ain't it grand!
Dave_in_AZ, Oxbow, Wymon and 3 others Thank this.
