You need to find a different trade. No offense, just the way I see it.

Ive been with jb for 3 months, getting good miles. And as you all know its up and down, I have a good DM. don't often have to go on an mt search. All miles east of I35. Don't like the 62 mph trucks and the way they neuter all the power out of them. Or the radar systems that they keep a close eye on. But the truck is only a year old, when I got it it had just over 100k miles. Cascadia with a 1200 watt inverter. free satalite radio. ive only driven cascadias, but this one is a step above what I drove at CRST, seats are better, rides smoother. all in all not a bad place, when I get better at backing im going to try an get on with the intermodal side. better money from what ive heard. any questions please ask, but it might take me awhile to answer. oh im supposed to stay out 12 and off 2, nut I stay out 30 and off 4. but that's because I like it that way.

So you're upset because they take safety seriously and fire those who don't? When I worked there, it was pretty simple. Don't get caught talking on your cellphone while you're driving, don't tail-gate, and if you had a hard brake event you discussed it with your DM and went about your day. If hard brakes became a pattern, they would retrain you and eventually fire you. Let's face it, if you're slamming on your brakes all the time, you're either not paying attention to what's going on or you're tailgating.

jb hunt is so huge, and which division you can make you or break you.

The drivers pay is controlled by the account manager (dcs) or terminal mananger/director (intermodal).

For example: The dcs account I worked out of, the drivers actually got a pay cut when they got a new account manager.

For intermodal terminals, they all pay different. The yard I worked out of paid .375 mile, 26.25 drop and hook and 40.25 for live load.

chicago pays more than that and san bernadino actually pays less.

Also, while smaller trucking companies, dispatchers and other office folks might be former drivers, most office staff at jb hunt have never seen the inside of a tractor.

There are some hard working managers but at the same time most of the office staff jb hires has zero prior transportation/trucking experience.

What I was referring to at the time was the over sensitive radar. I've been running for about 4 years and this was the most sensitive one I've had. Hotlanta got me pulled into the office when I'm already a hyper safety type. Can't do much about traffic continuously jumping in front of you and you're supposed to have 2 minutes to correct but someone else jumps in front of you again. Nothing personal but with jb being the biggest and handling their own brokerage, mileage should be more.
