I have a 73 year old drive once or twice a week in my company. He does fine but can't handle more than that. He can hook a set of doubles faster than most kids I see.
How old is too old?

#### right. Energy was limitless alright.
That is the one thing I keep pounding into my current doctors. When the medicines hit right just so and Im 21 again, get out of the way, superman is here all night. I just finished a day of training that included a few hours fighting traffic which really fires up the bad spots. But not today. But I will pay tomorrow, and continue to pay and pay....
In my family a number of elderly relatives just would not die until they REALLY die. I can only hope to be that tough and too stubborn to die.
Regarding the retirement home? HA. Aint happening. However the Doctors have the authority to commit you to a nursing home if you get hit too badly healthwise like a giant stroke or something. Just shoot me then lol.truckerman75103, Dave_in_AZ and Old - School Thank this. -
I'm with you. They will put you in one too in a heartbeat. Your a piece of live stock then, a money maker. You'll turn into a science project as well. Money, money, money. F all that.truckerman75103, x1Heavy and fargonaz Thank this.

People in nursing homes have a tendency to be left laying in their own feces for hours or days due to the staff not wanting to tear themselves away from Instagram or Jerry Springer long enough to do what they're paid for.
I'll take a .45 cal Tylenol before being reduced to that.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
I tell you that questioning my age is something I don't put up with you young whipper snapper. I am just as sharp today as I ever wassssssssssssssss.
Sorry, just took a nap. What were we talking about and where did I put my teeth?yuban, Hamburger71, Brandonpdx and 3 others Thank this. -
At my company, we had, a few years ago, an 84 year old guy who ran one west coast produce run a month. He was retired and just doing it part time to stay active. I never got to run with him, but I had heard that he could still run circles around the younger guys.
x1Heavy and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
We have a couple of 70+ year olds on our board, obviously it's their choice to continue working (health permitting, of course). Not for me though, I want to retire ASAP...

it's usually the old women that end up like that. Both of my grandfathers died at home like god intended.
What to do with Grandma usually becomes the million dollar question that nobody in the family is in a hurry to be the first one to answer. Seen it happen twice now. My father's mother died with with us at home (not literally...she spent a few days in the hospital before passing.) figuring out what to do with her and then who was paying what for the funeral turned into a giant brouhaha amongst the elder siblings. Mom's mom they left in her house until she was unable to fend for herself and she's been in a home for a couple years now. Advancing demnentia...doesn't know who anybody is half the time. -
I sold out this year @ 63, good health. I just figured with slowing reflexes and the way traffic is. That with millions of miles under my belt, it was just a matter of time before the law of averages caught up to me. My age and the looming of ELD made the decision easy for me.
I wanted to enjoy this stage of my life, not looking at bankruptcy because of some catastrophic accident my fault or not. -
"I want to die peacefully, at 92, like my grandfather.......not yelling and screaming like the passengers in his car!".
I think that's how that old line goes.x1Heavy Thanks this.
