It's so many bad truck leases out there taking driver hard earn money I'm glad Schneider is giving a far chance unlike quality leasing charges driver so much interest and there used truck broke down all the time .Schneider you can pay by the month if you prepay month
-
What are you averaging per mile leasing with Schneider?
-
I did 1.45 for all mile .some driver it would be over 2.00 but they would keep there loads under 500 miles the northeast you easy do over 2.00
-
When you learn how you put loads together you make money and be sleeping in your bed a few times in a week and on weekends they have so many load anything possible
-
I recommend at least 5 yrs of experience as a company driver before looking at leasing or owning a truck. Now if you grew up in the industry or have other experience in managing a business or organization that could be less. And all of your experience should not be in just OTR with a box.
OCs right now are full of dust covered SFI trucks that were turned in by ICs that failed. Don't believe for a minute that 6 mo as a company driver will give you the knowledge to succeed.
You should know something about tax planning as a business owner vs being an employee. Consult with a local to you, real CPA that has experience with o/o. Do not use ATBS, they're a rip off.
You need to have a lawyer, local to you with experience in the industry, to advise you on contracts and ready to go if you get in legal trouble.
Being debt free is never bad. This increases your odds of success not by a little.
When you are ready, a 1 yr lease on a 1yr old truck is what I recommend. A brand new truck actually has a higher risk of catastrophic failure. You will have a lower payment and still have pretty much full warranty. The less money you put down the better. Cash, in your hand, rules the world.
As far as freight trends go, well I'm waiting on my flux capacitor to be installed right now so I'll have to get back to that later, er, sooner....
And do not, I repeat do not, again do not go IC be cause you want to be self dispatched and drive an ungoverned truck.ExOTR, Opus and QuietStorm Thank this. -
It's been awhile since you have been at schneider?
It's not the same.ExOTR, drvrtech77, rickybobby and 1 other person Thank this. -
That's an understatement!
-
