I've been trucking since '07' - had a ticket for being in left lane, an overheight ticket and a few seatbelt tickets.
Those were my faults, there was a reason they pulled me over and I paid them off and learn from them.
But just this year alone, and for the first time, I got pulled over twice for absolutely no reason. They did level 1 inspection everything was fine I am on e-logs.
And last time the police officer actually told me to stay outside while he was in the driver seat scrolling thru my qualcomm and pulling a curtain a bit to look in my sleeper.
One time they pulled me over on some country road in VA. The other time was at the I-80E entrance ramp in Brookville, PA.
Anyone knows if it's legal?
America the land of the free, right?
Can cops just pull you over for no reason?

You are federally regulated. Yes its legal. Its called a random. Ever see em set up in a parking lot? They do blitzs where one or two marked uints troll the nearby hiways for trucks to do randoms on....

When you obtained your CDL, you have done what is called "implied consent". They can pull you over without cause and drug or alcohol test you on the spot, and do a level 1 on your equipment and there's not a #### thing you can do about it except cut up your CDL.Rusty Trawler, BUMBACLADWAR, x1Heavy and 2 others Thank this.

Cops can pull you over anytime and doesn't need a reason. But once you're pulled over they'll find a reason. In Texas there's troopers that do nothing but pick truckers at random and do an inspection late at noght.I know cause I've got pulled over a few times.Long as you're doing your job legally and safely I wouldn't let officers make you nervous, they're just doing their job.

Specifically to add to Patty J's point, on 45s at Corsicana, I have watched them pull drivers over one after another and do a level 1 there on the shoulder. They do this non stop, 24 hours per day, same exit, same 2 troopers. It's all they do. That exit should be marked as an open weigh station on Trucker's Path, because it basically is.

They can but usaly they wont. Ive had bears on my tail(is that correct trucker talk?) for miles and never have been pulled over.
I always wonder what their doing behind me in my blind spot, looking for a reason? Just enjoying my trailers fine ###? Calling to tell how my driving is? -
I think it's your screen name that's causing you to get pulled over.Rusty Trawler, RedRover and x1Heavy Thank this.
