I have a single axle truck I'm thinking of pulling a double bottom dump in the Sacramento area, does any one have any insight in this industry like average pay hourly or by load for an owner operator?

They usually pay by the ton. If you hire on to pull somebody's bottom dumps don't plan on making a lot of money.
Take a good look at who's pulling bottoms and what kind of equipment they're driving.
The rates are poor to begin with and when you subtract trailer rental and dispatch fees from your daily gross you won't be left with very much.
Oh, and brush up on your Punjabi language skills or you won't be able to communicate with an entire group of co-workers whose grasp of the English language is limited to "I'll haul it cheaper", "I know you sent me for a load of sand but the line was too long so I loaded rock instead" and "Please don't sign me out".Last edited: Dec 12, 2016
Camelclutch, BigPerm, Foxcover and 2 others Thank this. -
Your better off using that 2 axle to pull a set of pneumatic trailers.

Look in to signing up with Apex Bulk as a "puller". They are a pneumatic tanker outfit. I swear I have seen them with some bottom dumps but I could easily be wrong. You need all your own permits, insurance, etc. They don't play the "lease" game anymore. Now you just pull their trailers, with their loads, and EVERYTHING is on you.
They are based in Adelanto, Ca but have work all over the state and more.bottomdumpin Thanks this.
