I went flatbedding for a year and loved it until rates rates went in the tank last August , was going to semi retire until the reality of starvation hit me .
Now I'm pulling a reefer again for a grocery wholesale co and tho I'm only into week 2 I like the pay and dedicated run, always know where I'm going and when I'll be home , nice equipment, no grocery warehouse bs .
But the hours leave alot to be desired!

I think he might mean the time of day, or night as it were. Lot of reefer appointments are in the late evening to early morning.

Everybody knows that Reefer drivers get the women. They like the green. Hold onto your carrot(s) though. One day you"ll be divorced. Then you will be saying lettuce pray...Groaner!

Mine is a Cascadia/Utility/Carrier seeing I'm a company driver, all the reefers are Utility but have different Carrier Units on them.

For some food service and hourly company driver, driving reefer pays off.

Moving a reefer for a mega or even a smaller outfit really doesn't pays a thing. At one end or both you will spend half your day trying to get the thing loaded or unloaded. Not only will you waste more of your time waiting on loads, but you spend more time cleaning that reefer out and waiting on repairs. The line that "reefer is steady and consistent because you know people have to eat." is pure crap. Reefer is seasonal too.

It is true there are exceptions to that. Their are some smaller companies that have some good long runs but that is the exception. Going to a mega and running reefer will most likely send you to the poor house.
