It's hard to take any of these extremely low CPM statements seriously on here. People will state 14cpm or 18cpm when in reality they are paid that rate on all team miles. So basically they're getting paid 28-36cpm on the miles THEY drive.
Of course, they're relying that their team driver is reliable and hard working. And it's not like 28cpm for THEIR miles is good pay (it's actually garbage). But people need to be more straightforward with their claims on here.

I thought they had a good school, and classroom instruction.
It's definitely a weird place, but they have some serious babe's there too.
I only did about 3 months. I was running team loads as a solo lease op and made some very good money. That was before e log. No way I could keep running like that. Maybe when I was in my 20's. -
it is worth the B.S. to just get started.
I am 5 years in and still feel this is a very good vocation. Because the industry is so big and diverse, there is a lot of shuck-and-jive and we all have a personal responsibility to find our particular way to success.
Just remember: Walmart starting wage $82k/ year; UPS $84K/year; Mclane local $74k/year @ 4 days/week, etc., etc...
No other vocation I know of (and I have a wide variety of experience) offers so much in so short a time for so little skill and experience.
Maybe that is the best thing about our career choice: the opportunity to move up whenever we want.

But only long as the driver makes sure to :
1 take care of your CDL
2 keep work history to a minimum
3 diligent research of this industry
4 always fly under the radar
5 don't be a company butt surfer
6 don't be "a smuck boy " with law enforcement
7 balance aggressiveness with passiveness ( silence is deadly)
8 honesty is always the best course of action
9 don't be too complicated
10 don't sell yourself short
... I never get myself in a situation where value is :" getting a job " sometimes you have to keep your mouth shut and wait for the door to open but don't get comfortable do your part by doing your research and applying ONLY to PRIME jobs
This is: what we call " waiting for the call status "
Keep in mind that there are no perfect jobs
The driver CAN put limits on wasting time / job history" by doing the research" every situation is different for every driver and its up to the driver to figure out what works for them
.... No one has put chains on the driver accept maybe the driver himself / herself -
I was an OTR driver in the mid to late 90s. I was the driver that flew under the radar of the DOT when they were looking for a truck to inspect and I would treat any police officers I did interact with with respect. However at my carriers I drove for I was known as the driver that when the crap hit the fan and a load was in trouble for delivery if I could grab it and if it was possible time remaining in anyway I would be there at the customer.
Needless to say when the new trucks were handed out I normally got one or some other perk from the boss like a removed speed governor or a higher pay rate or he would by me dinner if I was at the yard. You know crap like that. -
Amen......I was in management with both ConWay and FedEx Freight........every month or so they'd come out with their magazines and it would have the anniversary pages / photos in them. With nearly 100% accuracy, you could pick out the linehaul guys without ever having to read the caption because they all looked 20 years older than they really were.
Home every day? You bet. Because you'll be driving and working the dock every night. And the majority of my guys would roll in on Saturday morning bumping their 70. Lots of folks think it's gravy, but it's not. The money is there, no doubt, (right now with good companies I'd say you'll top out in the .55 a mile and $25+ an hour range).
