I got a noise coming from my drivers side wheel area. From the inside it sounds like a vacuum. Kind of a high pitched hollow type noise. Today I investigated a lil further and rolled down the window while driving and then it sounded like and elongated beep I.e. Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Again high pitched. I'm thinking its a hub bearing. If anyone knows what it may be, I'd appreciate the suggestion.

Its your wheel bearing. Its probably running loose. The next thing you will see is a seal failure. Get inner and outer bearings replaced before it ruins your axle.

Thanks. I thought it would be a common issue. What does usually run?

Should be less then $500, stay away from the dealers.

At a dealer due to my company. Foreman tested it, said it may be bearing and to bring it back in the morning. Hopefully I get a comp discount. Oh, I had planned to get it to my terminal which was 3 hrs more driving but he advised against it till the bearing is inspected. The noise was barely noticeable and I don't think a few hrs would've been to damaging.

Being seen right now at Freightliner in Ardmore and the service guy came and got me we go to look at the truck which is jacked up off the steers and he shows me that the passenger side steer tires brakes not fully releasing is causing friction on the side. Other side spun freely so maybe it's not the bearing. Anyone had that happen?

Jeez doesn't the mechanic know what it is? Check for a sticking s cam, broken return spring on the shoes, or a broken spring in the pot. Should not be hard to find. As far as that noise went, the first thing I would've looked at was a rock stuck in against the drum. Can't count the number of times over the years where I've had a rock get in there and you'd swear you were dragging a wild cat by it's tail, or you had a metal on metal situation in your wheel bearing. However in this case it sure looks like a dragging shoe that was causing it. Of course check the bearing too, but I'm betting even by now the cause has been determined. If not find a different mechanic lol.
