The clutch is just a shock absorber don't give it no shock and floating is fine but if you shock the driveline on a regular basis double clutch it..

Another interesting thing to note besides floating and double clutching is the clutch brake, how it works and how easily it can get burned out. When I started driving- I assumed the clutch worked the same way as a regular car and drove it that way until the clutch brake and eventually the clutch went out. The driving school didn't explain anything at all. The fastest way to burn one up is to sit at a light with the gear engaged. Like someone mentioned in a previous post- the only time my foot is on the clutch is if i'm taking off or moving the truck a few feet forward.

The brake only engages when the pedal is pushed all the way down. They is a fine line between releaseing the clutch and engaging the clutch brake. Technically according to the state dmv you are suppose to have the truck in gear at all times. Or else you are not in control of the vehicle. Just like your not suppose to shift when crossing a railroad track. But,yes I can agree. I have a very stiff clutch and will not sit long before it comes out of gear and I'm resting my leg.

What no synchronized rings in a fuller transmission ?who told you that. P.S don't let them work on your truck.

I learned to float gears in school....and I'll say "most of the drivers" I know, .or have driven with, float.
But, do what youre comfortable with.

What are you driving? Transmission wise? 10 speed?

DC and only floated when useful. Some clutches were better than others.
