Commuter train, freight train collide in LA

LOS ANGELES -- A Metrolink commuter train carrying 222 people collided head-on with a freight train Friday afternoon, killing at least 10 people, including an LAPD officer; about 135 were injured, leaving an unknown number of others trapped in a mangled passenger car imploded by its own locomotive. The death toll was expected to rise, according to Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

LOS ANGELES Federal investigators said they will seek the cell phone records of two teenagers and a train engineer as they probe whether text messages factored into a fiery commuter train crash that killed 25 people in America's worst rail disaster in 15 years.
The engineer of the Metrolink train that crashed head-on near Chatsworth, California, was chatting with a teenager moments before the crash, the Orange County Register reported Sunday.

This is why we don't text while driving.... A guy I work with received a warning for texting while driving. They caught him when he set the drive cam off in the truck..
