I have heard both ways, I have a friend that pulls as a company driver in thier tanker division. He told me "great money, good runs, but I never see home" I know that thier terminal up in Springfield is a sight to see.
-
They used to give you your choice of truck colors, back in 1999. But they wanted 3 years experience back then.

My husband drives flatebed for Prime. He has been with them for about 5 years. I also drove team with him for about 2 1/2 of those years. I would have to give them a thumbs up. I know you hear a lot of bad things about them (as with anyone), but I have never had a bad experience with them.
The terminal is a site to see. Pool tables, movie theatre, awwesome food for almost no money, great company store, clean showers and bunks to sleep in, a gym, really nice people.
They still let you pick out your truck. No experience required for that option. You just pick from what they have available on the lot at the time.
Man, now I sound like a infomercial! No, they are not paying me to say this stuff! LOL -
Hey, Mama, I have a couple of questions for ya.
1. Where is Prime's main terminal? Is it somewhere near Joplin?
2. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> -
The terminal is in Springfield, MO. About 70 miles from Joplin. No, I havent been to the SLC terminal. Are you thinking of going with Prime?

We Just Left Prime Last Night,
Nice Facilities, Most people are cool there
But the lease option is a financial nightmare, especially with the way fuel prices are going.
Some people make money, but you will have to live in your truck -
I believe that Prime is a good company and a good way to get started in your own business. I have worked there for over 4 years, they are in the business to make money just like any other company. You can make money there, you have to learn the way their frieght runs and make it fit your schedule that you want to run. Yes you have to run to make money, but you have to do that with any company. I have just bought a new truck (not from Prime) and running with them has afforded me that luxury and even to get my own authority while still pulling their trailer.

You can make money with Prime Inc if you are a runner.
-
I just finished a lease with Prime and am doing another one. Last year I ran 161,000 miles (solo) and banked $72,000. I was previously with Arrow (and trained there) but they wouldn't keep me moving like I wanted. Prime will give you all you want (and need). They understand the basic rule: they can't make it (money) if you don't make it, so they keep u rolling. The dispactchers get a % of the load u run so it is in their best interest to get you the highest paying freight and keep u rolling. If you are a casual driver, stay away. If u are a runner (they allow u to log the speed limit) u are home.
