I just have a question, but first a story!
So while I was training with a certain company fresh out of truck driver school, I was assigned a trainer and there was another student with him other than myself. Two students and one trainer. Is that legal for OTR? I ask because at the end of the day one of us (other student and myself) had to sleep in the jump seat. I can't find anything regarding this issue. Thanks guys!

2 students for 1 trainer is very common at those company training programs... but usually trainer sleeps in his truck. While two students stay in some super6 or motel8.
Don't know about legal part of this issueTexact23 Thanks this. -
I would be out of there fast. Too many opportunities to put up with having to sleep in a jump seat. It is a drivers market right now.

I don't think it's illegal in terms of the CFRs.
That being said, you may not drive if you are not properly rested.
Also, there may (I could be wrong here) be states that require that all occupants in a vehicle, even adults not in the front, be restrained by seat belts. If you can't buckle up while sitting in the bunk in the back, that could well be a violation of that. -

Well....... Covenant is going to be in a world of hurt if this is illegal.

When I was out with my trainer, he said something about picking up another trainee. I said you must be out of your mind. That was the end of that lol

I've seen 4 guys hop out of a CR England truck before. It was one of the funniest things I've seen in a truck stop.
austinmike, OmerT, x1Heavy and 2 others Thank this. -
I am almost sure it is illegal to be in the passenger seat for your ten hours sleeper or off duty while the truck is in motion. When my wife and I was at training at Covenant, the trainer was in the passenger seat at all times. He could hardly ever drive since he was not getting his 10 hours sleeper or off duty.
