    i'm just starting, and i'm starting with a company. should i just get my own idot? if i don't like this company i can just bail. or not?

    There's a WHOLE lot more to independent trucking besides getting a USDOT number. NO!!!! Do not attempt this if you don't have a clue what you're doing in the trucking game.
