My take on this is that when the middle lane is the rightmost through lane, after all, I'm staying there.
The other thing is, people are crazy. I try to stay right, but even then they won't leave me alone. For instance a truck will catch up to me in the middle of nowhere and try to tailgate, so I try to move left before they accomplish that (in case they're sleeping, or something crosses the road ahead), but they'll slow down and wait for other traffic to catch up to us just to be difficult. Even if I move left and slow down immediately, they'll slow down just as much, as if they're trying to create a dangerous situation one way or another. I have zero respect for these people (or their egos, that is), who are breaking the law to catch up in the first place. Commuters will do the same thing, even if their speed limit is 10mph faster, they'll freaking slow down and stalk me for trying to drive safely.

Except that one woman driver who parked in front of a door that I was in the middle of doing a double drop in. And wouldn't move. For a half hour.

Here in Texas it is legal for you to pass using the left lane to get around a slower truck in the middle lane. Now if you are a 65 mph truck truck trying to pass a 64 mph truck you deserve a ticket if you try to pass him or her in the left lane! -
If 4 wheelers (or even some truck drivers) could actually merge properly I'd cruise in the right lane all day. But after so many years of seeing people drive all the way up the merging lane only to get to the last 20 feet and realize they need to merge and then cutting me off I realized the middle lane was safer.
If I know the area I'll cruise in the right lane and scoot over to the middle for the people to enter, but if I'm in the middle lane I don't feel bad. I'm entitled to be there just like anyone else.
PS- way to reasurrect an old thread. This one is a pet peeve of mine.fargonaz Thanks this. -
Why on earth anybody (including a lot of posters on this thread) think it's ok to run in the middle lane is beyond me. What part of "slower traffic keep right" do you not understand?
It's gotten so bad that I just pass on the right. Usually the right lane is empty and all the slow pokes are in the middle lane. These are the same people that think it's acceptable to block the fuel lane for their 30 min break. They say you are being rude by asking them to not block the fuel lane or center lane while they are actually the rude, inconsiderate ones.HalpinUout Thanks this.
