$1 every time you swipe the card and only 2 cents off cash price? That's no discount at all. They're pocketing big bucks off their contractors from fuel. $1.17 a mile loaded, 90 cents empty?? that is just so crazy in these days of $4 a gallon fuel, actually that is paying them to haul the freight, Wow!!!

If you are charged $1 to swipe the card, every cc company charges a swipe fee although most businesses eat this, then is this not a business expense and therefor tax deductible?
Also the poster mentioned the fuel surcharge but not what the base it is charged on is so I'm interested in that.
    Thanks for answering these questions.

I will almost never haul over 35k unless its over 2.50 a mile!!! The FSC is extremely low and the discount is the same!

What is so great about a tax deduction? He'd keep more money if they paid the fee and he never got to deduct it. Tax deductions do not put money in your pocket. Most better companies don't charge that stuff back to o/o, no fuel card swipe fees, no cash advance fees, no qualcomm fees. I would think as much money as they are making off the guy at $1.17 loaded short miles, and 88 cents empty short miles that they'd at least have the courtesy to cover the card swipes. His base loaded rate is likely in the .90-$1.00 mile range. Nothing to get excited about. The surcharge is less than half what the average surcharge is anywhere else. I could pick out a half a dozen low paying companies with the same payscale plus a better surcharge where he could get at least 30 cents more a mile, some of them even pay surcharge on empty miles as well. Not that it would be much different than running for less than a $1 a mile (figure REAL miles and it's a $1 a mile if that) like he's doing now - it would still be a go broke lose, lose situation but 7 years like that??. Tango is really ripping their contractors a new one compared to most. I guess when you consider what they haul as a specialty then it's no wonder they pay what they do.

Bump..yeppers, stayed till the end. And also went to TMT (sister company) and was there to the end as well. Now with Medallion Transport and Logistics. There was a deal worked with them and TMT to get paid what TMT owed me. They did pay ALL loads owed but, did not pay escrow owed to me from TMT. Jury still out on Medallion...highly doubt will stay with them since I have ONLY averaged $1000.00 to the bank a week!!!
