You're dating yourself. Of course, you had gray hair last time I saw you... 12 years ago.
I got lucky and the first truck I drove OTR was a 1987 Pete 379 and it was relatively new then. Of course, the O/O I was driving with was a ########, so that job didn't last long.
Let's see... old trucks... For a local construction company, I used to drive a '63 B-model Mack 6X6 water truck. I've never seen springs stacked that high. It was real fun to drive when the power steering fluid leaked out, since it had the wide mixer tires on the steer. I actually loved that old truck, with its 5X2 and Thermodyne. When they assigned it to me, I started cleaning it up and fixing things on it and got to love the old girl. Took the rigid frame seat out and put an air seat in its place, but the cab was so small, I couldn't put any air in it, LOL.
I also drove a .. I want to say '77 International Transtar II with a 430 Jimmy and a 9 speed. Noisy sonofagun, I'm here to tell you.
Drove several other cabinovers, mostly Freightshakers, but there was a Mack in there.
Anyone remember the old Ford cabovers? The ones that always leaned to one side?

You mean an L-9000? Yep, I drove a few of those.
-
Yep, that be the one. Rode nice as long as you didn't mind leaning against the door and the thought of the possibility of the cab falling off.
-
Funny that the squishy cab is what I remember about thoseclimbing up the side to get in and it felt like it was gonna come loose and fall right on you.
I was working as a mechanic when I drove those (bobtail). One of the companies we did work for had a whole fleet of CL-9000's and I used to run 'em back and forth. -
I'll have you know that I am one of those "premature gray" fellows.

Couple of points I'd like to make while on that subject:
(1) Not old, just seasoned
(2) My age is 32; (and has been that way for 23 years now)!
If you believe that stuff, HAVE I GOT SOME LAND TO SELL YOU!
LOL, RLOL!
I remember a good friend calling me up and wishing a "Happy 30th Birthday", after I got off the phone with her, I thought to myself; "30... #### I'm old!"
What I wouldn't give to be 30 again! -
my first one was a 9000 coe white with blue frame....was a jack daniels distillery truck in its first life.....hot as a pepper patch and rough as a cob
