I thought the j was forever gone in Indy after the fire....sigh
-
Wonder if pilot burned it down so they could put fast food in that one...lol

No offense. with all the merging of the travel plaza's Pilot/Flyin Check, T/A and Petro. These travel plaza's are seemingly taking out the restaurants and putting in nothing but fast food joints. Arby's, subway, chicken shacks, toxic bell, and so on. When laid over for a weekend, this crap got old real quick. Many of the Bossellmans, and other off breed truck stops are either being bought out, or doing the same as the big chain travel plazas in putting in fast food crap joints. -
The profit margin's are much higher in the fast food establishment's than the full service restaurant's. Less investment and fewer employee's.
passingthru69 Thanks this. -
Fewer employees at quick serve restaurants is right . And now they are asking for $15 minimum wage there are fewer still. Has anyone used a self service touch screen kiosk at a McDonald's yet? No more sullen snotty teenager behind the counter getting your order wrong.
The full service restaurant business is having a hard time everywhere. Go into any of the remaining truckstops with one and look around. They are a ghost town relative to when I started in 1976 when there were signs for reserved areas "These seats are for truck drivers only to assure they are not delayed". Maybe ELD's will bring back the concept. -
Petro doesn't still do that? Haven't visited one in a few years. Only occasionally petro Fargo nd. And since they changed it to i think a Popeyes chicken I have never gone back. Stay in jamestown or minot instead now.

I was in Indy a few weeks ago. I stayed the night at the J on the out skirts in the country. I had to drop off my co driver so he could pick up a truck for our boss. The Pilot next to the dealer is a toilet. Even during the day riff raff all around. I went fifteen miles to the country J and stayed the night.

What's worse is those of who avoid the truck stops at all cost except for fuel and a hot shower the rest areas in Arkansas (most) are closed for upgrades so parking hard to find. I carry all my food and my two puppies with Mr so no need to waist any money at to many truck stops. But is nice to have a hot good meal...to many thieves at alot of truck stops...be safe and keep rolling

I usually don't stop in Indy except for fuel but ended up doing my break there today, they do have a variety of other food like the hot deli ,pizza , soup , and that cinnabun place. The store is actually quite nice and has a driver lounge, but its too bad they put in an Arbys.
driverdriver Thanks this.
