Thanksgiving morning of '05, back when I was still running nights, was the first time I encountered freezing fog. I remember well crawling across all the bridges on E/B I-70 east of Mt. Airy.

Worst ever for me was coming into Wyoming from Utah, got off the Interstate because I didn't understand how it worked, yet. Super cooled equates to freezing events overwhelming most countermeasures.

Never had an opportunity to go back, we don't go to California anymore, outside carrier with required equipment does.

I hear you about Vermont. I think the entire state has 1 plow truck to cover all of the roads. Was there a few weeks ago and it was snowing pretty good, but things were fine in New Hampshire but once I crossed the bridge into Vermont it was a whole different story.

    KillingTime and mjd4277 Thank this.

Well, that is that for this storm, next one comes onto the west coast shortly, pending a ice storm in the MN, NE area by next sunday with more snow west. Including a area on 40 east of Flagstaff. I don't have any long range maps, just playing with the winter weather prediction center modeling.

Power spikes where we are this am at 12 degrees. Everyone is burning the heaters and killing the power company with local failures and spikes. Killing me too. So I'll see you down the road when things settle.

Actually along I-57 it's 65 for the most part(even then IL State Police expects drivers to use common sense especially in bad weather).

And in Vermont's case where they will crucify a truck driver who screws up he's also:
    The judge,
    The jury,
    And the executioner!
