I'm curious, what are some of your favorite trucking companies. Also, what do you love about them?

Sassy Gal,
I personally like Western Express because I will be a driver there in two weeks. Technically I am already a driver because I've been hired already.
I like the honesty of the recruiter I have been dealing with. She never blew smoke up my hoo ha and she told me things that we both knew would make me uncomfortable, in a effort to be transparent.
The lease purchase program there works for me and due to certain restraints, I am able to drive regionally and will make a good income. This company is the second chance I need. -
@JJDrivesOTR I too have thought about going to western express but as a company driver. I am at CRST getting my cdl right now. Just thought I'd start my research early and get as much info as I can. Thank you for sharing.
-
I am new to the company and have done a lot of research on them including talking to current drivers. I looked at CRST and did not see anything about them that I found compelling enough for me to apply to them.
If they are going to help you get your CDL, than they will have done for you what you needing them to do. I am not saying and will never say that Western Express is the perfect company, but for me, it does what I need the company to do for me.sassy_southern_trucker Thanks this. -
That's true. I just needed my foot in the door CRST has given me that. There are lots of companies out there it's just about bettering yourself and your situation. That's my personal opinion anyway

There's a lot of negative reviews on both of these companies. I hope it all works out for you both. Ps recruiters lie, do your due diligence.

For OTR, Big G Express, Shelbyville TN, treated me very well in the 3 years that I worked for them. I would recommend them to anyone.
Texas_hwy_287, Ooops, tscottme and 3 others Thank this. -
Just a little heads-up on Western Express I don't know how true it really is because I haven't researched it I haven't had any need to myself personally also I'm not trying to piss in anyone's Cheerios just trying to look out for fellow drivers I heard on a thread on this site a couple weeks back the guy that was working for "said" company and he posted that while you're going through training with them they charge you $600 a week for training and obviously you're not making that a week in your training pay so they get the rest of it after you start driving solo but again she could have been talking out the side of his head but maybe not just please please do your research I have not been on this site very long and I've heard more horror stories then Happy Endings because people don't do their research they get smothered in the recruiters fog of bliss research it up

I can only post from a research stand point; but from what I have read, and through phone conversations and even video at times, the following companies (in my hiring area) are my favorites:
Danny Herman - They a lot of the southern tear states from Georgia to California; They drive the Kenworth T680's
Millis Transfer - Have nothing but good from this company; videos support much of what I have read; They have Kenworth T680's too! They run mostly states top to bottom, and east of Interstate 35.
Titan Transfer - About the same lanes as Millis; Freightliner trucks, very close to me, home time should be no issue(?) Sort of 50/50 on good/bad reviews...
Big G Express!!! When I get my two years solid over the road experience, I am applying at Big G (Period!). Employee Stock Ownership; very nice equipment; also very local to me; nothing but decent reviews on this company!Texas_hwy_287, tscottme, sassy_southern_trucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
I can only post from experience, In order: ABF great benefits fantastic pay and a pension. JB Hunt: Dcs only, great pay good home time and great driver managers. Quit JB in 2004, still employed with ABF.
Dave_in_AZ and sassy_southern_trucker Thank this.
