I am having problems with my steering i did put new leaf springs and I took out the two inch spacer and bagged the front end of a t600... but feel this problem was before that just getting to me more now... my steering even while empty I feel I am working hard in turning my truck especially backing up... I replaced the gear box relaxed power steering pump and u joints in my steering shaft ... I started to examine my steering column but not sure it is old it is on a 96 but I am worried to spend 1k on something that might not be.... it feels as if there is so much weight on my front axle and I am trying to steering it around..... please help make me want to light my truck on fire lol

Maybe search box at top right. hard steering. Or no power steering. If you changed the angle of the drag link between the pitman and left spindle arm that might change things. May need a custom link.

Pulling the blocks out of the front end (between the springs and the beam) changes all the front end geometry.

One thing I would check and see is if your filter in the power steering reservoir is plugged up. They get neglected more than you think. Restricted fluid flow, low power steering assist.

Wait a minute were you having steering issues before you swapped out springs and removed the blocks and installed bags. Those blocks don't just raise the front end they pitch the axle beam

My steering was tight before the air bags but it seems worse.... over time.... I took those blocks out under the leaf springs that sat on the axle.... hmmm geometry of the pit arm that sounds interesting... I changed the filter

I don't believe the pitman arm I know on the old trucks without power steering they used to put a tapered shim between the springs and the blocks to pitch the beam to help steer easier,if you look at the block I think that you will find that it was tapered

All steer axles should have caster (which is set by those tapered shims). Caster is what helps keep you going straight when you let go of the steering wheel. I would get the box and pump checked out. If they are bypassing internally, you'll have hard steering. Also if the input shaft on the box gets buggered up, you might not get full assist in the box.
