i have a 93 kw w 900 with a 60 series detroit this past week end on my way back from san antonio to dallas the truck started smokin a lot,the firs thing i did is ceck the oil and it was two gallons low ,the oil pressure is normal is not overheatin and the engine sounds the same,when idle it doesnt smoke at all it just when i give it gas a lot of white smoke,im just wnt to get an idea of the damage and perparing my self to how much im gona spend,any ideas of what it could be????

well if you are giving it the gas then you have BIG problems. Diesels much prefer diesel fuel over gas
seriously though
if it's dark black smoke your turbo may be junk and you better get it fixed before it comes apart and blows a million little pieces of itself into your motor-juice- Thanks this. -
its sittin at the shop waitin for the machanic,if its just the turbo ill be happy with that,and not gettin into that eng.

ya, just like that!! blowing smoke is what happens when the seals blow out. You had more of a sudden catostrophic failure... lol

Maybe having a nickle in your turbo was part of the problem?
