Anybody know how many semi trucks that Pinnacle has drivers on? Not owner/ops, just company trucks. Was also wondering how they maintain their equipment?
Any info on how the company CDL A drivers like their jobs?

Pinnacle's flatbed yard is located in Bristol, IN. You can see it from I80/90(Exit 101). The trucks are new Freightliner Cascadias. I'd be surprised if they had more than twenty trucks, then again I may be wrong.
Lonesome Thanks this. -
For that division, they have about 15.
How they maintain their equipment? - LOL. If they bring you on, ask to see the truck and trailer inspections before you come in to orientation. -
Spoke last week with Horizon Transport from Indiana about moving some RV's and I am glad I did. No way is there enough money in it to conform to all their requirements. They have more regulations than the FMCSA does.

I'm know about Starfleet, but can't find anything on Jet, is it a regular trucking company?
-
Jet was owned by Jayco they closed it down Starfleet took over all the operations for Jayco transportation needs Jayco is now owned by Thor Industries

The impression I get is that they are the largest and most mega-ish of the RV tow away outfits. I'd personally avoid them. Heard a lot of not so nice feedback which I'm sure is probably a least half true.
Try Indiana Transport or Shawn at Southeastern Trailer. I'm still on the fence about whether to give this a shot or not but I got a better impression from those outfits. There's not a lot money in it. A simple back of the envelope calculation will show you that but it's an easy come and go as you please type job and some people are happiest with those types of arrangements. -
Brandonpdx: Let us know what you will do. I do see several semi-retired OTR guys doing RV delivery part time. Some had bad experiences with past trucking companies and just needed a change in their lives. RV delivery could be just the “resting place” some drivers need. I never have done traditional OTR so I have no idea what the issues and problems are. If you spend too much time listing to Road Dog trucking on satellite radio you just end up so depressed.
It’s unfortunate that the pay only makes it a real trucking/delivering job for a small percent of the drivers doing it. It could take several years to get to a decent profitable position, but it can be done. There are a few on this and other boards who are, by their own descriptions, making it! It takes a dedication and commitment to the industry. -
It's a relatively inexpensive way to get going in your own truck. Personally I like driving for a living now that I've been doing it for awhile but I'm tired of doing of this occupation driving somebody else's crappy equipment to the point where I'd almost just rather do something else for a living rather than be told what to drive, where to drive, and when to drive there. You get my point I think.

I am finally going to give this a shot, just doing single pull at first. I ended up taking a local class A job hauling cans off the piers in Jersey and stuck with that for a couple years as a stop-gap job, but I eventually had my fill of that (and the east coast) and relocated back out west a few months ago. I have a 99 F-350 I've been fixing up and finally spent the money the past couple months to put all the towing stuff on it.
If I like it I will make a goal to buy a trailer. I am a little concerned about starting out this time of year and also about the economy in general taking a downturn sometime soon, but that is out of my control. The good news is that I have no truck payment and know what OTR driving is like. It's sleeping in trucks and eating and showering in truck stops for 3,4,5 days at a time and doing this RV delivery is really not going to be any different at all. That probably fools a lot of guys who have never driven OTR for a living who wander into this thinking it will be some vacation, not realizing it is the same job as driving a full size truck.
So we'll see what happens. I leave for dis-orientation in 2 days.Cowboyrich and 86scotty Thank this.
