2001 Volvo with s60 . After sitting over night will not start and Davco filter empty. I replaced check valve at Davco filter plugged with junk. Did not help. Replaced check valve at back of head. Don't think it was bad nothing draining from it. IS there a check valve in the pump its self ?? I removed the line from the pump that feeds the head and there is fuel dripping steadly from the fuel pump. That is why question if it has a check valve. Truck runs great no fuel in oil or coolant so not thinking injectors . Thanks in advance

look for bubbles in tank fuel return line. could be injector seal issues. just search block at top right, lots of info there. ask questions in different ways if you don't see what yuo are looking for. detriot, 12.7, 14, not start, air in fuel etc.

I knew someone with a series 60 who had a similar issue, he had the overhead adjusted (valves, injectors) and the problem went away.

I had a brand new Volvo with a Detroit I bought new in 1996. It did the same thing. It would lose prime when it set overnight. The mechanic that worked on my truck put some sort of loop in the fuel line. That took care of the problem but I don't know exactly how he did it.

Is the truck equipped with fuel flow switching valves? These would be hand operated 'pull / push' valves that are accessible from the fuel fill access flap. If so. they tend to wear out causing a hard start problem. Replace them with regular 'T' fittings or with OE valve if you wish to keep it original. If you use 'T' fittings make sure & keep everything level. Otherwise it could cause unequal fuel levels between the tanks.
