Me too. Like no one knows how to upgrade only remove and place with the same

I don't think that was what caused the driveshaft to fail. I know for a fact my dad would always lock in the inter-axle and center rear drive axle at all times in adverse conditions in the bush. He'd lock in the rear and front axles as needed and he has never lost a driveline. Every other logger with tandem and tri-drive trucks does the same thing without failures. 77k miles means nothing. If your U-joints aren't getting grease 2 all 4 trunnion ends, it'll fail unbelievable fast. I've seen U-joints fail at under 50k miles due to lack of lubrication.377pete Thanks this.

Did you ever find any locker

Id say a rd 402 is getting hard to come by. Im curious as well....

I checked on one for a customer and found eaton makes a detroit no spin. Remove spider gears and install in place. Run about 1000 but cheaper than axles and carrier. There not driver selectable but kicks in when needed. A cheaper alternative I considered for my service trucl
snowman_w900 Thanks this. -
Those have been around for years. My old man put one in his '78 back in the 90's.
-
Do they last? does this go in the front or reader differential?
-
I'm with you on this one NM. I pull a super B, with DS402's and a locker only in the back diff. Not my first choice of a setup, wish it had full locks, but it doesn't. I manage ok, but I'm very careful with it also. The main driveshaft is the big one 1810 I believe its called, but the one between the diff's ain't very big. Just gotta drive er like a "ship of glass".
Oh, and keep er greased.

What kind of locker you have on the rears? any pics. don't know if to but the eaton no spin and install on my rear rs402.
