Got a buddy out there right now doing tha same thing and he said donner is supposed to get bad so check your weather. Don't take winter mountain driving lightly.

Barring closed roads you should have plenty of time if you stick with it. You have roughly 72 hours to do 40 hours of driving ( that's going slow ) which leaves you three ten hour breaks. You don't want to know how fast the big hp paper log guys do it.

You probably will not make it. Rapid city is under blizzard warnings pending. SO is North Dakota.

84 through Oregon is closed in places as is Iowa today.

Donner is rain changing to snow. California expects several feet all the way down that mountain range.

3 days? Not going to happen because the further east you go, the more snow and more snow and more snow. MN is the target for it.

You want to change your appt. I see that it's friday night now so... eh.

Just another day in trucking, ###### if you do and ###### if you don't

    It's only weather dependant...
You have 37 hours drive time between Friday and Monday, counting the 4 hrs you stated. At 2100 miles that comes out to a 56 mph average speed. surely you can do at least that.

Already sitting at (where else?) Taylor 'we-are-out-of-product' Farms and they don't even know when they expect it back in. It is paper logs but Super Genius Boss just got rid of his 3 FL 2016's that went 80 mph because he couldn't afford to renew the lease. So now it's 455 hp instead of 505, 68 mph instead of 80 mph, and 75 gallons per side instead of 110. He thinks we will be fine "if Taylor gets you going soon." Yeah, and fat babies aren't heavy.

    I am governed at 68, I can run 700+ miles a day.

Sounds like your looking for a reason not to make it. Take it as a challenge. No reason you can't do it, save for weather related delays.

Surely I can do 700 a day in a 68 mph truck, but not when half of it is uphill, or 300 miles of it is in CA with it's snail limit. And blizzard warnings? Sure, no problem, after all, total loaded miles divided by posted limits say that I can. But on second thought, I don't feel like being on CNN, so maybe I will just adjust my speed to prevailing weather conditions, and get there when I get there.

On elogs, governed at 62 MPH you should be able to make 600+ per day, barring weather.

Donner may be a problem if it's closed, other than that it's 2 hours to chain twice. You start with 4, you should be golden, though it will be tight. If you can't do it, don't tell your boss he's stupid. Just tell him that weather conditions and hours available don't make it work and reschedule.

We frequently get delivery schedules which are impossible. Just call and explain WHY. As much as you hear about crazy dispatches here, most people are reasonable once you explain what's going on.

Donner has been closed due to snow for now. It will open soon.

Ice storm forecast on the third day (Monday) For entire MN-into roughly Fargo-Omaha.

Tuesday am delivery isn't happening this weekend.

Call your dispatch and push the appointment forward to later next week. If they are too stupid, dense, and fail to listen to you and you are fired for being late... document everything. Names, dates, locations, times and weather conditions.

Remember YOU are responsible for being decision to roll or not roll in safety with a 18 wheeler not Dispatch sitting in a nice warm office.
