If it's rebuilt correctly it should outlast the new pos emissions engines.....

I'd probably just stuff a new crate engine in one. Regulations or not....

    TallJoe Thanks this.

The sales guy kept saying it was the factory that had put the limits in place based on the new rules. I will try a different place. Thanks for the help guys.

He is aware of the issue. He met with the Fitzgerald company back in August when he was campaigning.

To the OP,if you get a glider and want to build it yourself, make sure you get a pre-drilled frame for the suspension you plan to use. Also the correct motor mounts. When I built mine,it had a long virgin frame,no holes.Had to cut it to my desired WB,relocate crossmembers, and drill the frame for my suspension. That's where all the hard work was.Fifty some 5/8 holes, for suspension, and fifth wheel mounting.I have a magnetic mount drill press, but still hard, time consuming work, including making my template.Building the rest is easy.Good luck.

Nowadays, you can get them with the rears already installed.

They just have to be missing two of the three major components. Engine, trans, and drive axles are the three major components.

The ones I'm looking at have a motor installed at the factory assembly line but no trans or rears. They are compleatly drilled with all brackets.

Why in the world would you want to do that? What would be the advantage?

I have a new trans and rebuilt rears on my current truck and don't want to open up the ISX motor. I can order it with a pre emissions Detroit 60 and install my new and rebuilt stuff on a new chassi and cab.
