I think this guy Jason has it figured out with 6 Watts @ 45 miles. Spent $89 on a Cobra 29 at Walmart and 65 bucks for the tune and $10 for the Firestik antenna . Me giving him a radio check from 45 miles away mobile to mobile is totally priceless. Until you can accomplish this you're wasting your money with amplifiers and big radios....
Best value for the dollar spent

Having a perfect RF ground is a huge part of the equation.
My receiver sensitivity and all the modifications that have been done to my receiver are another huge part of the equation.
The modifications that were done to his transmitter are another huge part of the equation.
Our coaxial cable that we use is probably part of the equation.
The type of vehicle that he is transmitting from and the placement of the antenna on that vehicle has everything to do with how his system performs.
On a Cascadia with a single antenna mounted on the driver's door as opposed to Stacked elements outside the fairings on the rear of the truck the difference is night and day.Last edited: Dec 24, 2016

More importantly, I'd call it proof that one does NOT need a CB shop hack job, thousand watt linear amp, bleed over to every other channel, and brag like that's somehow something to be proud of to talk over that distance.Ougigoug and rabbiporkchop Thank this.

That's my whole point. If everyone had receiver sensitivity like mine, nobody would need to run amplifiers...
-
Well it seems we all dont..There are other factors that many have no clue about....
Maybe instead of oosting vids at how good yours happens, make suggestions and threads that will help mot teeze others...
Posting a # of vids that basically brag to how good your radio is doesnt do anythin for anyone but the egos of those who know more.. -
It gives you something to compare your antenna system to. Instead of listening to some idiot telling you there is nothing wrong with your antenna system, ask yourself how a stock Cobra 29 would reach out on your antenna compared to Jasons Cobra 29.
I did offer to help you solve your antenna issues if you get through my area on my days off.
The video is Just a baseline to compare to. -
Look at that...A stock cobra..In another thread you said it was a heavily modified amc..
-
So now i can go back to my comment where i said i musta confused stock vs barefoot as to why he gets range..
So it is a stock 29....lol..Changes,im seeing tooo many changes dude.. -
I never said it was stock. Those are your words not mine.
