Well obviously from his OP, he didn't.

And until a few years ago one could avoid the child support in one state by simply moving to another state, for a short time anyway. Maybe for a year or two.
    Well, probably 10 years ago.

But what do you think the child support agency would have told him?
OK, get settled in to your new job, and don't worry about it in the meantime.
    ???
    No.
They would have said that he is under a court order that requires him to pay, no matter what.

There is no grace period, or grace of any sort with them.

The only way he could contest it would be if he had been paying the child support during that time.
    If not, no way.

There are no extenuating circumstances when it comes to child support.
They don't care what the person is going through at the moment, they only care about the court order and getting the money.

They can and will revoke your drivers license, be it a Class D or Class A. It makes no difference that it is not a traffic related issue.

Interstate child support issues can become very complicated. I have a good friend that is dealing with a child support issue between Mississippi and Florida involving the same children. In that case, they were able to seize his bank account and license. Florida certainly does suspend for noncriminal. I would definitely consult with a lawyer to confirm in both states to be certain. If Florida and Missouri are reciprocal to one another it could be problematic. The easiest way to attack any suspension is to contest it early tho.

The easiest and fastest way is to contact the FL child support and begin payments again.

In the end it can not be avoided.
It is best to initiate it yourself, rather than have them hunt you down.

If you are making less money now you should ask for a court hearing to re-evaluate your obligation.

Yes, after I posted that I did a quick look at a website that covered it. I see the legislative intent behind it. You are right!

One of the problems you will face is the suspension of ypur passport if you haul into Canada. Almost, if not all states, have a compact agreement. Whem Florida enters a child support non-payment order it will affect your CDL. Heed the advice given by others here and contact thr Florida Child Support division and start to pay. No other way.
