Drop a load of copper in my neck of the woods. Let me show you how well kingpin locks work. Heck they stole 3 trailers aluminum trash wagons in one night. With the same truck. On secure property. With cameras. If they want it they will get it bud. And quite honestly I don't need the claim. I pay enough for insurance as it is. So as for dropping a trailer in any lot that isn't either mine or if I was pulling a company wagon their yard. Is oout of the question. Why would I want to assume responsibility for dropping a trailer on some one elses property? Bad idea there Ethan.

Well for one I wouldn't have a load of copper. If its high value like that then I wouldn't drop it obviously, but when I go home 99.9% of the time I'm carrying wood products such as lumber or plywood. Not exactly high value target.

One can always find a situation that will be a problem. After all, it isn't a perfect world. But when people sit back and realistically look at how many times these problems crop up, it might not be that big of an issue. Even on Elogs, I have had in the last 2 years only 2 situations I can recall where I dropped the trailer due to hours and bobtailed home. Every other time it went home with me. It isn't like this is going to happen to everyone each and every time they are headed to the barn. If it is happening all the time, then maybe it is time to view your operation and what is wrong. Maybe time management is a problem.
BigBadBill and DrtyDiesel Thank this. -
Hmm...so I was looking back at this thread I started over 4 years ago. It's even more relevant today.
Anyone still interested in contributing? The thread may have died out, but the controversy certainly hasn't! -
I doubt any small businesses will comply with the regulation.BoyWander said: ↑Hmm...so I was looking back at this thread I started over 4 years ago. It's even more relevant today.

I don't see the issue, you do and make money or chicken out and make no money.
I've don't ever worry about it, it hasn't done anything to my bottom line except make more money, the 15 minute increment thing was a PIA now fuel stops are shorter, just a little bit more on drive times and so on. -
It is still not a done deal on the elogs. OOIDA still has a lawsuit pending on the issue. With Trump coming into office we should see fewer regulations and hopefully a lot of useless regulations, such as elogs go away. In any case, I will keep my older truck that is exempt due to the age, just in case.
ramblingman Thanks this. -
I've always preferred comic books because the creativity allows me to take siestas. On the other hand, elogs are much less work and you don't have to worry about mistakes. As far as buying an exempt truck goes, I don't have the patience for jalopies anymore.
