Shops charge out the wazoo to do installs because of the time involved...You could save yourself a ton of money doing it yourself...There's really nothing to it. You have one red wire that go's to the positive side of the battery, and a black wire to the negative side of the battery or just to a good grounding point. Then the coax from the back of the radio to the antenna... routing the wires is what takes time, and why shops charge so much...no two installs ever end up the same, as far as time go's.
Once installed, then all you have to do is tune the antenna, which if your not sure on how to do, a shop will sometimes do that for free, if you buy the antenna or radio from them...Otherwise plan on about $20 to set SWR.
Does this sound about right?

Ron D is only a tech there. He is the go to tech on an upgrade receive. Now, I don't know about the install of the coax but can imagine all the work involved. You said you called on the phone, why don't you stop by there. This way he can see what he is working with and might end up less expensive. There is also a guy like I mentioned above on Guasti rd, just west of the TA, the guys name is Chris H, he is only a tech but there is a antenna guy there and I seen him do installs. Give the place a call, The CB Radio Shop.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 1, 2017

Mount antenna, install/ run coax, hook up power, check swr. What's the big deal? Hook the thing up yourself save a hell of a lot of money. Really?!!!
