Hi guys, im new to trucking and im thinking of starting off with averitt around February out of kernersville, nc. Recruiter said they average around 2k a week at 37cpm. My question to any current or former employees is that true? Is it possible i can get even less than 2k because im one of them guys that if im gonna be away from my family i gonna try to get the most miles i can.. better yet what other company other company do any of you all recommend running out southern Virginia?

You aren't going to hit $2000 a week on 3000 miles a week at .37 a mile unless averitt has suddenly become extremely generous with accessorial pay. You should have been able to run those numbers through a calculator yourself and call bs on that recruiter.

Danny Herman Trucking runs out of Mountain City,TN and no northeast or New York City. They run mostly southern routes and lots of Texas border towns all the way to Calexico, California.
Abilene Motor Express - runs out of Richmond, VA
Maverick Transportation - home weekends for flatbed drivers.
    TMC - home weekends
    Tyson Foods
Magnum Ltd. - excellent reputation going by their threads on here. One of their terminals is in NC.

You're in the hiring area for all the above.

Had my Averitt tattoo removed lol

The miles are possible but remember you are doing a reset at home every week. That effects miles. To get good miles you need to run through your resets.

Also you have to wear uniforms the lay out for you. A crazy grooming system and no tattoos.

I will say I will never ever ever work for them or the sister companies.

Epes Transport is based in North Carolina and hires from approved schools.

Is there a company culture problem over there? I read a lot of negative about them on this forum, but occasionally some people say they really like working there.

I worked for the First Fleet division. It's a suck arse outfit. I'd go to CR England before going back there.

    That says a lot, lol.

I delivered to a small mom & pop consignee in Columbus once, there was a mixup with my appointment. I apologized and the guy told me no big deal since it's usually not a problem with my company. He said that First Express is the worst carrier that's he's ever had to deal with.
