Travel light until you are REALLY sure you want to do this job. Remember, that when you quit you will have to carry all the stuff you want to keep to the bus stop, taxi or airport. It takes about 20 minutes to move into a truck and hours to move out.

I'm not trying to discourage you, but I've been through this a lot in the last four years myself. I hate throwing stuff away that I paid for. None of this applies if you have a personal vehicle at a terminal awaiting you.

As far as electronics go for a new driver, I would just make sure I have a really good smart phone and a generous data plan. I always go with StraightTalk at WalMart and it has served me well. If the company doesn't provide a good onboard GPS, I would research what one is good at the moment.

Also, a small electric fan that runs off of the 12 volt outlet is a must in the summer if you don't idle. Buy it at WalMart for half the price they charge at the truck stop.

Yes to all of the above but leave cb and music box off when going thru major cities, construction you need to focus on your surroundings.

What kind of ham do you have, a spiral cut sugar glazed or a smith field type?

I've heard some companies have DirectTV in the trucks. Do you cover the sub? Do you get to pick the box?

I'm a big hockey fan and want to know if I cover the sub so I can add the Center Ice package, and I want to pick the box so I can get the DVR to record the games.

But now I think of it I bet they don't pay for the good antenna that you can use while in motion? Probably not.

They pick the subs, but you can PPV if you want. We get all the sports channels & HBO etc for free. An Max 1 IIRC.

I'm not sure if Center Ice is on there or not... not a big sports fan. I just know that most UFC's were on there and NASCAR was.
