If there are no openings, you can't apply.

That's correct, walmart typically tapers off hiring in the Nov-Dec timeframe. Not much time for hiring during peak.

What are the chances of getting hired come Jan 2017.The only way you can get hired is if there is a posting for an OTR job.Looks like the chances are slim to none considering no one is leaving .

There are a lot of factors at play here and it would just be a guess if I were to tell you yes/no. We don't have a list of areas that are planning to hire or how many they are planning to hire, you kind of just need to keep an eye on that website for what locations are hiring and when you see one you like apply right away.

Hi there, My husband and i have been thinking about applying at WM, he’s been a driver for 12 years. Clean record not even a ticket. He’s moved around a bit nothing less than 3years and always with notice. Reading all these negative comments have us questioning if its worth the sacrifice to restart even if the money is good. Is it really that bad? No work place is like the good old days, but safety with a “trying to get you” attitude, is it true really? Can You please give us some insight?

Nothing surprises me with wm. I do know that @ some dc's if 1 driver is hired instead of a referral from another driver & that driver don't like u & sees u do something he/she will snitch on u just to get u fired just to get their buddy in.

20 years ago, maybe. The way the hiring works these days, current drivers have NO influence on who gets hired.

Go to the Walmart here I come thread. Probably more of what you're looking for. Sometimes, people who don't what they're talking about ^^^^^ (Papa4Nana) will post and it's not informative at all. A lot better info over there.

Excuse me for butting in here, but the way this is sounding is not only insightful but also disillusioning. Really I would much rather take 20k less a year and live with no FEAR of accidentally going 9 mph over, or breaking hard for a situation, taking a hard turn in a place I've never been at night, be home more frequently, and not have a dash cam watching me pick my nose or pee in a paper cup in Los Angeles traffic.

member: 80468"]As of this writing...4 drivers have been discharged and one pending for having accidents and talking on the phone. Two of these drivers were not on the phone at the time of the accidents, but after the accidents they were required to submit their phone records and after comparing them with their electronic logs, they found that days and weeks earlier they had been talking on the phone for longer than two minutes..in city traffic...and on the terminal lot while looking for trailers. A DOT inspection, safety observation, log discrepancy, warning ticket, incident, hard brake, hard turn, etc....will trigger a log audit and require phone records to compare with logs. The drivers got the safety dept to back down on no cell phone use to a general restrictive use which can be interpreted by the safety managers as they see fit. (just ask them) Safety is now mad and is getting revenge on the drivers!!! Getting a driver fired is a sure way to get an "atta boy" from the safety dept and enhances the safety managers prospects. Bottom line...have an accident and you can count on getting fired. :yes2557:

Take this test...figure your next grocery load with 3 drops...use the old pay system to figure your pay..then use the new.....what you get? May suprise you. When they rolled this system out you may recall they said one weakness was that multi drops do not pay as well on the new system. Now, al we pull are multi drops. The extra pay comes from the fact that in 12 weeks we have been required to work over an extra day96 days) in all but three of them. :biggrin_25522:

The truck wash you spoke of is a truck rinse..if you really want it clean...get out and start brushing. Bring you own soap :) Make sure you are on duty and not talking on the phone or you can get fired for log falsification or phone usage...check it out:) :biggrin_25521:

If they are changing any part of your driving log...they and you will be fired. New rule...3 violations, step 2!!! Over on your mileage 3 coachings and you are ranked.

Yeah, it pays good but you will find it is one of the most stressful trucking jobs out there. Open your eyes...the company has a "get them" attitude and smiling and saying everything is wonderful will not protect you from them.[/QUOTE]

I think I like 20k less a year to do whatever I want, whenever I want, however I want and be home more frequently after reading all of this.

Chewey is a liar, and the vast majority of what he says is not true. Passing judgement on what being a Walmart driver is like, based on incorrect information, is unfair to yourself and those who work there.

If the job was the Gestapo type of experience that he lists, noone would want to work there, no matter how much you make.

    noninetofive and slim6596 Thank this.
