According to one of the other posts that ant has an inner jacket to keep the guts of it clean from debris..
So with the outer coating with all those holes i gotta wonder why they did that..
To me its like wearing a condom so you dont get a woman preggy but put on the 2nd one thats a different color just to be different and for looks..Pointless.....

Sirio seems to have better construction and according to reviews i saw better range and it has a bigger mag..
Not like im bringing in the space shuttle to land in halifax novascotia...rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
It looks like your antenna is going to be on its way really soon..

You guys ever ask yourself this question - why is so much trouble with a single antenna mounted on a vehicle but a magnet mount works well?
Neverready Thanks this. -
Wondering it right now. On my pickup 2013 2500 Silverado I used a fender mount that uses the hood hinge bolts for my 2 meter antenna. Wound up with alternator whine. a friend suggested going to a mag mount on the roof. Ok took a road pro mag mount added an old hustler SF-2 3/8-24 bottom load antenna, noise went away. Ok move to the cb Wilson 1000 mag mount also on the roof further from engine compartment all kinds of ignition noise, disconnect antenna it goes away.

Why ?

I don't know, I am asking why too but never get a straight answer from CB experts.Diesel Dave Thanks this.

Unable to solder the connection on the roof mount which is crimped at the factory and easily able to remove the cable and reattach some LMR 240 to the magnet Mount and solder the connection inside the magnet mount..
5/8"-24 threads on the roof mount are totally sloppy as if they were machined in China and if you over tighten it it will fall apart and if you don't tighten it up enough it will fall apart on the roof mount unable to tighten adequately with the roof mount using the factory components because the thread tolerances are so sloppy -
I think I need to clarify this, it isn't about one or another specific install on a vehicle but an statement made about how magnet mounts seem to be more trouble free and less hassle than those mounted on the vehicle.
Does this make sense?
