That, and to know what they are actually taught, might help you utilize them better?

    This too.

I've only recently moved into pulling loads with pilots. Only done 6 or so. I'm still learning how it works with them.

The guy I'm getting Sunday works for a company my boss hires often for moves leaving our home. Don't know who he is but he should be decent. Haven't had too much trouble yet.

I did have one guy out in WA that was running high pole for me who had a problem maintaining distance. He kept slowing down and only staying 500 feet or so ahead of me. Would have liked him to be further out than that. At least the load was light so even at that distance I would still have plenty of stopping time.

Here in Ohio, usually the really bigger loads, are escorted by a pilot car and the state highway patrol. Sometimes the crane companies move over sized stuff, and they have there own pilot car, but there over sized stuff isn't big huge things the size of a water tower.

Anytime I have seen an absurdly sized load they were escorted by a front and rear pilot car and the state highway patrol.

There's protocol that dictates escort requirements both private and OSP.

And then the permit office/bridge engineer will randomly throw in extra OSP escort requirements

The worst ones are the local permits. That's where they require a pilot car for a 3 block run up a county road.

City of Irvine or city of Oxnard permits are a treat! Front and rear no night travel, morning, mid day, and Evening curfew. Pole carat stupid low heights

Well, you cant blame Oxnard. They wouldn't want any damage done to their beautiful & pristine city..................
