Thats what we have here are the tuthills, although I have a 625 gardner. They work fine but don't handle the heat as well which just means you carry several of their soft plugs to replace them when they melt out. The engine can run at a lower rpm and still make full blower rpm because you size the hyd motor to the pump for the desired blower rpm. I just like my older shaft drive better out of the two. But might see if you can run 2 pto's. Have driven a few class 7 fuel delivery trucks that had 2 pto's on them. Granted having both will make the tractor heavier and really crowd up the undercarriage but they flexibility might make it worth it. Ive been looking at the GD D907 if I get my own truck which I will mostly be doing flour if I do.

Off topic perhaps, but my husband is waiting to hear back from them on if they are hiring him or not. If he does get hired he needs to take his truck down for orientation (Moyock, NC to Little Rock, AR). Currently our truck doesn't have tags or any insurance, Oakley said they can give us a letter to show DOT "Letter for intended Hire" to kinda replace the tags. He didn't ask about insurance though, will Oakley add our truck onto the bobtail policy prior to orientation, or do we need to purchase our own bobtail insurance? Temp insurance sounds like its only good for recently purchased trucks heading home. What did you guys do to get down there?

I am signing on with Bruce Oakley. I am in the process of purchasing a truck. I was given a number for True North Insurance to purchase a trip insurance which is good for only 7 days at a cost of $130.00. Once in orientation, I will be given information on purchasing permanent insurance.

Once leased on you'll get an efs fuel card. Fuel discounts, depending on the truck stop, are applied automatically.

I applied on Monday morning (01-01-17) and they called me twice, 1, to say that I'll be out for two weeks at a time and that its they tell you where to go. 2nd time was a lady who asked if it was ok to call my recent employer, which I said was ok. I was hoping to hear friday that I was approved and could start orientation this week. Hopefully they will tell me something on Monday or I'll have to settle on containers again.

One more question. My bank account is about dry thanks to my last company, if I have a major break down, like an injector or a turbo, does Oakley loan operators money to get up and going again? I know they pay great, and saving my money to operate like I should won't be an issue after a couple months, but there is that side of me that is scared. Especially being out far from home two weeks at a time.

As far as loaning money goes, the only instance I know of was when my dad worked here back in the 90's. One old boy had his transmission grenade under a load that was for some reason or another urgent. Long story short the shop claimed they couldn't get a hold of a new or reman trans for two weeks. Mr Oakley made two calls and the next morning the driver was on the road with a brand new transmission. Mr Bruce footed the bill and worked a deal out with the guy that what I'm told was better than the shop had anyway.

That's how it was back in the day and most all the same folks still work here, so I doubt that's changed, but is a "cross that bridge when we get there" scenario.

I purchased a 7 day temp insurance to get to orientation. They even gave me a discount since I lucked up and called Oakley's insurer True North. I wanna say it was only 114 for my 2012 Cascadia.

    Brian Gilbert Thanks this.
