Hello I have some questions about banking as an over the road trucker. I don't see any reason i won't get on with jim palmer. They run mostly midwest to west coast. I live in Mississippi and i understand the difficulty that'll bring. I was wondering how banking works as a driver. Most banks are regional and I don't have any larger banks except regions who is southeast only. What would you guys recommend

Direct deposit. Your debit card will work anywhere so you can grab the cash you need

Use your current bank, and do direct deposit.
Almost all banks offer online bill pay, they even mail the checks out for you if the company does not have an online payment option.
As for ATM fees, it was very rare that I ever actually used an ATM. I normally just pulled cash out at Walmart when I stopped for groceries every few days, it's free when you're buying groceries at the register.

I prefer credit unions vs. banks. Probably get some good advice during orientation. Maybe a credit union in Missoula to use. Can do everything online.
I'm a veteran so I use USAA Credit Union.

I'm a little behind the tech times, but a driver posted when he weighs his truck at a Cat Scale, he doesn't have to go inside; he scans with his phone then prints it in the truck and the company reimburses him.
    That's great stuff!

I am a member of a local credit union but they don't offer anything. I really just did it at first because my brother had an account with them and it was easier at the time. I am seriously considering regions bank because they offer ira accounts and also better rates.

Sadly, the most important factor (for me) when choosing a bank for my checking account is the fees. Some of them can really kill you in hidden fees.

I definitely understand. I just wanted to make sure a local bank was okay for otr trucking being gone for weeks at a time

Yeah, you'll be fine with the local bank. The debit card will be visa so you're good to go
