Although it varies by state, there are few restrictions on what a prior employer can say so long as it is true.Last edited: Jan 8, 2017

Maybe you're right. Maybe it's just CA but here, they usually won't risk a lawsuit.

It sounds like you really got shafted. Horrible story.
I am gullible at times, but I believe the driver, and I think CRE made the big mistake.
I agree, and your date of hire and the day you left. Nothing more. They just want you gone, but they don't want to get sued. -
Would a zero cell phone policy mean "no phone in the cab of the truck?" Cell phones are so pervasive and useful for the job. Not having a cell would be hard on a family guy stuck OTR. I always assumed BT made using a cell allowable. Perhaps pay phones will make a comeback at the TS.

Payphones are still around. I don't think I've seen any actually working though.

Sorry but first thing that I would have done was find a place to pull over, call her up and ***** her out for texting me in the first place. Outside of that, no matter what, they initiated it, the dispatcher should have been fired.

So much bs info here just no one person to quote. Come on people, use one or two brain cells. Of course a company can say anything they want as long as it's true. If they could not how could DAC even be around?
Do a little research and you will find several articles talking about it. In a nutshell it's recommended to give dates only, but there is no law stating just that.
Here is a google search: can a former employer say you were fired
What Former Employers Can Say About You
There are no federal laws restricting what information an employer can - or cannot - disclose about former employees. If you were fired or terminated from employment, the company can say so. They can also give a reason. For example, if someone was fired for stealing or falsifying a time sheet, they can explain why the employee was terminated. -
Well you are right they can say what they want but most won't say much for fear of a lawsuit.
