Hey,
Happy New Year!
I believe I asked you this before. We have one truck which is plated and we want to run it local using loadboards. Now, are there brokers who are able to keep you busy running local or we have to call different brokers and negotiate local freight on our own for every trip?

Merry Christmas
There is no easy way in this business man. There is local work but a lot of people already doing what you are trying to do. It is a tough market to stay within Ontario especially without a direct daily account situation. Start working the load boards and go from there. Steady good paying work doesn't just present itself. -
Thanks. I will be signing up with Loadlink early next week and see what's there.
Is there a good time to call in for freight? -
Any time is fine. Some will say wait til the last minute to squeeze for the absolute most possible. The likelihood of the load being gone goes up if you play that game. That's not to say to haul it for whatever is offered. This is where you need to know what lanes pay what rates and what is way off and what is good. Myself, I like steady decent paying work. Others wait and rip into the broker for huge amount. The market staying in ontario would be difficult to play the wait then rip into them really good. Other markets are different.
Loadlink is expensive but is the Cadillac of load boards and has the most Canadian freight on it. For me it is worth the expense. I have considered closing my account now that I have steady customers and don't login very often to find loads very much anymore. When I do, it always finds me new customers...so I am keeping it.haider99 Thanks this. -
I guess my first task is to sign up on Loadlink and study the loads?

The other trucks will definetelt go into U.S. But the 2007 needs to stay in Ontario for now to begin with. The other local we have running with a carrier pays 37/hr and we only pay for fuel. I hope to beat that running on my own with a driver. Is it wise to have some type of a tracking app for the local work ?
As the time is approaching, i am getting more and more nervous. Today, i will be collecting plates -
You're operating a truck for $37/hr gross?
-
Yes. With a carrier. But we only pay for driver fuel, maintenance and parking out of that.
We dont make much and thats why we got own numbers to operate. Want to start off within Ontario and Quebec with the truck thay is parked. -
How much per hour are you paying the driver operating the 37 per hour truck ...
-
$19 amd he isnt on payroll
