I don't know how these companies get away with that. I could never got away with asking the driver for a check to unload when I worked in S/R. But, after unloading ourselves at a shipper, thinking it would be quicker I would never turn them down again, lol.

What you should really consider is your hubby staying in that co. truck . you couldn't possibly have picked a worse time to make the switch. With freight capacity as low as it is And not knowing the board you would be lucky if you could take 800 home real lucky. Hope you don't have bills to pay.
Maintenance will be taken out of your settlement ,the amount will be determined by how new the truck is that your hubby is leasing.
You are seriously making a bad mistake by switching at this timeTDFair Thanks this. -
You can not run your own authority and be on the choice board.
-
Taxes are dependent on each individuals situation but 25% for taxes and maintenance is not enough.
Are you getting a truck thru SFI?
Néw or used?
LLC isn't necessarily worth the expense unless your tax advisor says so.
Just run in your name as a sole proprietor.
The more expenses you have the harder it is too succeed on choice now.TDFair Thanks this. -
Also please take others advice, this time of ANY year is the worse time to become a lease op at any company.
driverdriver and TDFair Thank this. -
I know it is definitely bad timing, I have been following you guys for awhile. And also about the maintenance, but we've always been the type to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it kinda people. You know if nothing else it could be a truck payment if the truck is down kind of fund. I have told him to wait but he's already started the ball rolling. On a plus side, we know he will be working his butt off, he already stays out 4 weeks home 5 days so chasing freight out of desired lanes aren't a problem. I only ask because he's coming home in a few days and we need to make definitive plans on the type of entity we want and he would need to be here to open a new checking account.

Figure to take out AT LEAST 25-30% for federal taxes, add state income tax % to that
TDFair Thanks this. -
Yes through SFI, and no matter what I think he should stick with the 1 year lease no matter what gravy offer they give him, just in case. I will try to have him push it back awhile, but his DBA is already making arrangements for his and his co-drivers transititions. Hubby to IC, Co driver to bulk

Thanks for that, we were thinking a lot less, guess the old 50/50 split is the way to go.

Not 100% sure on this statement, will ask again when he calls, but not sure where he got the OA info.
