I tried everything to idle pos cascadia after the apu went out....this pos wont idle no matter what , i tried everything suggested on ttr, and it will shut off every 5 minutes. Finally i set the cruise control and when its about to shut off i press overan engine shutdown once and it will run all night. So far it works for this truck. Hope this helps.

Golden piece of advice - Instead of playing MacGyver every night with sticks and cups, switches and buttons, jackstands and all that goofy crap, stay in that motel room tonight. Get up and deliver load. Drive truck back to terminal. Hand the keys back to penny pinching boss and get a real job with a company that will choose a driver's comfort, safety, & satisfaction over a few more dollars saved. I understand the need and desire to save money, but it cannot come at a cost to the most important asset-the driver! DO NOT drive for these suit & tie fools!

Maybe you can rev up the engine RPM slightly above the idle threshold. Then set the cruise control while the engine is revved up and the truck is in neutral. We do this in the fuel hauling business when we do pump jobs. It requires the engine to idle, the PTO pump uses the energy from the idling truck to pump fuel into above-ground tanks at a fast rate. I'm not sure if this is only applicable to trucks equipped with PTO pumps, but you should try this.

Go local. That's what I did

It was around -30°C the past four days I was out on the road and the truck ran for all four days straight, 24 hours non-stop. I'm so glad I don't have to deal with this garbage technology. Idle up, lube those pistons, done. Comfortable heat all night and a nice vibrating bed.

In this modern age you have to be careful how you do things. No means NO. If the truck says, "No!" you can't force it.
