Im leaning toward the 2012 Pete with the paccar it has 480,000 miles. I will just buy a extra warranty. I gotta make the decision by tomorrow. I had a 2008 Freightliner with a Mercedes mbe4000 was a good truck for me. I really like petes and most of the pete have the paccar. I found a couple petes with cummins but the have 600,000 miles on them.

Wow buying a truck blindly sometimes leads to a disaster. Whats the hurry. It is a truck, Pete, Mack, kw, almost all the same and it is a tool.

Do your due diligence, don't just take the word of the dealer, and the extended warentee doesn't cover lost time or revenue.

Stay far away from 08-11 years of any make. They are a maintenance nightmare. Paccar is tough , like it was mentioned, due to only paccar working on them and parts will probably be expensive due to the exclusiveness.

Get a rigdig report done on any truck your looking at - $50
Pay a mechanic or shop to check the truck - - $150
    Have a DOT Inspection done on the truck - $50 - $75
    An uninformed mistake - $$$$priceless

That's just a start, get an ECM dump and a dyno to measure blowby to see if the truck is worth even getting. Don't forget get that oil checked.

You shouldn't be in such a hurry. Take your time and look far, there are plenty of great trucks out there. I personally won't buy anything besides CAT, Detroit, or Cummins. We have 2010 trucks with Paccar motors with under 500k selling for 20k in my area, no one wants them. Extended warranty might cover SOME motor issues but it won't cover your payments or lost revenue if the truck is in the shop for 2 weeks.

Don't let the dealer or someone tell you that you need to decide now when you only have a few trucks to choose from.

Do your homework on what you are looking at. Just jumping at something will cost you in the long run if not right away. I have a '10 386 with an isx and I wouldn't trade it for much else. The cm871(08-11 isx) is good if it's been cared for and you are willing to care for it yourself as well.
