New to the industry and was curious about the overall demand for regional drivers.I like the idea of being able to get home at least every 7-10 days, but coming in as a rookie driver what are the odds of finding a regional route? I live in East Texas. I would like to make decent money but it isn't everything to me, I'd love to just have a stable career and be able to at least get home 3 times a month. Please share any thoughts, I would really appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

Several companies offer what you want.
    Do you have endorsements?
Your age; are you over 21,22,23?
    Which town/city are you near?

East Texas is a good area for Regional with weekends home. Dry van has a lot of paper running from AR and LA back to Houston and Dallas, refrigerated has all the Chicken plants, flatbed has the lumber yards, and even some tanker opportunities depending on how close you are to the coast. Honestly, a key question would be if you need to park at a terminal or if you could take a tractor trailer home.

Texas is considered part of the western region so if you went true Regional you would be running from Texas west. Honestly your miles that you get to drive just depends on the company it has nothing to do with whether you're driving Regional or not. For instance I worked Western Regional and was only getting about 2,000 miles a week now I only work Oregon Washington and California and I am averaging about 1750 to 2000 miles a week minimal.

Honestly with you being a newbie I would put a few months in as an OTR for the lower 48 before moving to a regional position. There are a lot of companies that want you to have some experience as a lower 48 driver before being able to come on. Food for thought

Regional jobs are plentiful inTX and so are dedicated..I would suggest finding a company that only has regional.I've read more posts that drivers were promised regional then once training was over all that changed and they got stuck doing OTR.

Once you get some experience call JB hunt, they have a weekly thing running feed out of the Nacodoches area to local shops like Tractor supply. I did it for about a year, it was pretty easy work. Most of my stops didn't involve any backing, and I had an electric pallet jack to deliver feed. IT was all palletized too.

They have tires out of Terrell depending on where "east" you are. Gotta unload the tires but it's not hard and 65k isn't hard to do

Conway truckload had a dedicated account in Waco for tractor supply. (Live in Texas to qualify)
Guarantee of 2k miles with one guaranteed day off (maybe two)

Its pretty pud work. Its all drop & hook on one end live on the other. Its an option if all you want to do is slide tandems and hold the wheel.

Can y'all offer similar opportunities for Rockport, Texas? Thirty minutes out of Corpus Christi. Preferably a terminal with secure parking.
