Expanded metal doesn't work very well. Unless you weld it down really well, it tends to wad up.
If I do any welding at all, I'll just weld beads in a cross hatch pattern. I'm trying to get by without welding if I can, just for the fact that I don't really want to be welding on a new trailer. The trailer cost right at $100k, I want to keep it looking nice as long as I can.

m16ty, I helped a guy fix an air line in a parkin lot a while back, His whole undercarriage was coated with this stuff, color tinted to match trailer. I quizzed him about it and he swore by it, protects from corrosion, rock blasts from road everything, He even grabbed a hammer and smacked the frame hard, twice, I put my ol' man glasses on, it never left a mark. Tough stuff. Had more of a coarse texture then bed liner I've seen.
Soon as time and money come together at the same time going to have someone do the whole rear trunnion on mine.
It's called "GatorHyde". I'll try to add link.

For a quick test without damaging anything you could get some of those stair tread stickers. May not hold up forever but those things stick. Easy to replace too.

Curious what the cost on that would be. I'm considering that for the floor of a vehicle, since the original floorpans will be modified, and carpet just won't work.
-
You would be surprised with the weight that rhino lining will add. To do the floor of a tandem axle bumper pull car trailer it will add 1,000 lbs to the trailer.
-
I floated with one of them trailers before. Always had salt and sand in my tractor for wheeled and tracked machines. Snow on them trailers with tracks is a death wish!
-
I was wondering, how does a few quarts of paint even with sand mixed into it weigh 1000 pounds?
-
I was gonna say that. We buy that stuff in bulk to put on our scissor lift plaforms. Sticks good but its easy enough to peel off with a little bit of heat from a heat gun.
-
If you re-read what I typed I said it was on a bumper pull car trailer and they did the whole floor. I did not say it was a couple of quarts and some sand.
