That was my problem. Sleeping. Every bump in the road I was peeking through curtains making sure my trainer wasnt falling asleep.

Trusting my life to the ability of another person is my biggest problem with teaming.

In a teaming situation both of you are trying to get the best miles possible. Possibly even in competition with each other to see who can do the most.
    That is dangerous.

As a solo driver I can run run as hard or as soft as I choose to. There is no competition except with myself.
If I decide that I want to slow things down to give myself some more rest time I can do so without someone telling me that I am not pulling my fair share of the miles.

About six weeks, three weeks at a time. He was a pain, and ex con, a loud mouth, basically a forty year old child. His driving left a lot to be desired. Slamming the brakes, banging the gears. His log looked like pig tracks.

I teamed a few weeks ago with a great guy. We had to run from L.A. to NYC. We did good. Seems like the good partners are short term. I prefer solo for a list of reasons. Most of all, it's hard to sleep while the truck is moving.

I'm a light sleeper too. I had a hard time sleeping while the truck was idling, much less going down the road. The very 1st OTR trucking experience for me, was in the mid-70's, a friend had a '73 KW W900 just like Snowman's, and went on with a guy from Laurens, Ia. hauling package pork to Fla. ( RRR TRucking, I still remember that) It was an experience I'll never forget, and proved to myself, OTR was NOT for me. I tell ya', this friend, we'd switch driving, and in 10 seconds, that guy was out like a light. Never saw anything like it, and never wake up. That freakin' truck had "torture bar" rear suspension, and rode rough. When we did switch back, I'd fall asleep, 5 minutes later, he'd hit a bump, ( or mash the brakes) I'd wake up, and couldn't fall back asleep. I did that with him for 3 weeks, and said, "thanks, but no thanks", and for the next 34 years and 11 months, I never did OTR again.

You do that every time you get into a cab of a truck and drive on a public road, you are dependent on your trust of the other person not killing you.

I've found this to be the case across nearly all prolonged human relationships.
There's always a dominant character / personality... and thereby a weaker one. And that role is upheld 70/30, if not more.

You and yours are a few rare birds, Ms. E.

Exactly One Year - Partner and I were polar opposites. I'm type A personality, he is type B. We were in orientation together. We still keep in touch. Never team again -

I will say one thing, like Mr. Six said, I'm solar powered, and my partner liked to drive at nite, he was a youngster, so he had better eyes lol -

It also doesn't help that teaming usually doesn't pay any better....been looking for a good team job for months and they all suck.
