Most of the truckstops I have ever been to have been one of these kinda stops.
Because you alway's got Joe Cool truck driver at the fuel counter (BTW has not showered in a few day's, and has about 2 teeth in his mouth)

Hitting on the new counter girl, getting her all frustrated because she keeps messing up, and has a long line standing there.

I bet they attended the truckdriving "Acadamy" that advertises it self with the motto "Learn to run with the Big Dogs". I have seen at least two of them, one in the LA area off Route60. After 15 years as a truckstop wiatress in Colorado, my mother married a trucker and continued driving after his death. She had to put up with the BS then, amazing drivers havent "matured" since then. One more reason I leave my CB off unless absolutely necessary.

Thats about as raw as it gets right there Duckie. In a good sense I mean. A woman can steer, clutch, shift, and brake just as good as any man out there, and even better than some. Your sex doesnt make you a driver. The only "equiment" that matters out on the blacktop is your rig. I say Roll on Ladies, but PLEASE be careful as there are some people out there who do wish harm.

just recently (as of 2 weeks ago) a female driver quit her job at my place. she stood 5'4" and weighed a mere 100 pounds soaking wet.

we used to "bust her b*lls" so to speak, and she would say, "how many times do i gotta tell you, i'm a girl, and i have no b*lls"........

to wit i once said, "since you were once married and now divorced, you got a "set", you just forgot where you put them............everybody laughed out really loud...........

she can and did manuver a condo sleeper as easily as any guy can do, maybe even better from what i had witnessed on several occassions.

i don't know why she left, could have been the added responsibilties of being an "assistant" manager/stand-by driver/ and other assorted duties that must have finally gotten to her.

i miss her, and i never got to say "good-bye, and good luck" on her new venture, whatever, and where ever that is today..............

I admire any woman that goes into any field that is dominated by men, it takes a lot of courage and determination. I don't like a lot of what the ERA has done to the family of america in general but I honestly think women are just as good if not better in some cases as men in any given situation.

The attitude and inuendo I have seen written on this post just brings home the fact that some men NOT just truckers need to respect women and when they are talking about us think first.

as stated by prodriver:we used to "bust her b*lls" so to speak, and she would say, "how many times do i gotta tell you, i'm a girl, and i have no b*lls"........

would you want your wife, mother or daughter to have to put up with that type of thing at their jobs? sometimes a moment of thought before a statement can really save someones feelings or self esteem.

As much as drivers complain about the few that give them a bad name in this industry, they should stop and look at how their comments or real life actions make men in general look.

It does need to be understood that some things may prove challenging for a lady trucker, such as loading and securing heavy equipment, although I've seen some that looked like they could do it minimal difficulty.

I do agree with that part Mack. I admit that there are some things I dont feel a woman needs to be involved with for example; the infantry. I've been in the military for 6 years, always a ground pounder (infantryman) and I just dont believe that a woman has a place there. There are emotional factors, health factors, etc...but driving...aside from maybe some heavy lifting she may need help with I think a woman can handle pretty much 95% of the job.

you took my statements out of context. its a "daily routine" for guys to "bust b*lls" with one another, (in any occupation) and we included her into our "circle of friends" like anyone else. for you to even think we were mean to her is appalling, without first asking me what i meant.....!!!!!! and by the way, she could "bust back" like anyone else.......

I don't think he mean't anything by that. I think he was just describing the sort of kidding among co-workers that goes on in the construction trades, which I know from experience can be very crude at times.
